“Book, Beam & Ride”
for bicycle-sharing applications
Bicycle-sharing programs are emerging as a way to encourage alternative means of transportation in places that are overcrowded or impractical for cars, above all in Europe and the United States. This includes congested urban business districts, universities, not to mention shopping areas and tourist promenades where using cars is not practical.
Many cities now offer bike rental services at convenient locations, such as downtown and at metro stations. Subscribers can checkout a bike for any length of time and return it either to the same location or elsewhere in town when they are done.
Bike stations are typically staffed by people or managed by electronic or coin-operated payment/unlock systems, with check-in and checkout time recorded for each rental.
Yadilys offers a far more cost-effective and powerful solution, both for users and for operators, as it handles bike localization, reservation, and wireless electronic payment.
With a deployment cost that represents many thousands of Euros in savings for a typical city, Yadilys offers the significant advantage of actually tracking bicycle fleets in real-time, including automatic alerts in case of anomalies.
In addition, Yadilys infrastructure is compatible with all Yadilys solutions, so bicycle sharing can be one service among many in a given city, seamlessly coexisting alongside parking and congestion charge solutions.
Totally wireless rental solution
To rent a bicycle, all you have to do is press a few buttons on your Yadilys, sending out a wireless beam to find and reserve a bike at your preferred station. When you get there, Yadilys unlocks your bike wirelessly and automatically. Yadilys can also reserve a space in the rack at the return location ahead of time so that all you have to do is park and relock the bike when you’re done.
Easier fleet management
With Yadilys, operators are informed in real-time when subscribers check out bikes. As the first low-cost solution that actually facilitates remote fleet management, Yadilys indicates the location of every bike periodically, whether it is rented or not.
Easier for users and operators
Yadilys is extremely easy to use from the user’s perspective. With a simple interface and integrated e-payment ability (pre- or post-paid, or e-wallet), its main role is to offer automated rental service, including finding, reserving, locking, and unlocking bikes.
Low-cost wireless operation
With Yadilys, traditional payment booths are replaced by a citywide wireless mesh network and a Yadilys terminal in the hands of potential users. Without counting the advantages of tracking and fleet monitoring that Yadilys makes possible, the deployment costs alone are tens of thousands of Euros lower given the fact that there is no longer a need to dig trenches to bury cables or connect bike racks to electrical power.
