Wireless on-street parking solutions
Yadilys provides a complete end-to-end solution for on-street parking, based on an extremely simple usage model. When parking, all a driver has to do is activate payment by pressing a button (for pre- and post-paid contracts) or inserting a smart payment card (prepaid card or electric wallets like Moneo™)
- Completely non-technical usage model
- Fair and easy payment for drivers
- Fast, cost-effective fee collection for municipalities and operators
- Detailed information and statistics for making informed parking policy decisions
- Fewer parking tickets leads to improved relationships between drivers and municipalities, while increasing people’s respect for parking fee payment
- Increased security options for drivers
Usage scenario
In case the driver forgets to activate Yadilys within a few moments after parking in an e-payment zone, nearby wireless repeaters trigger an alert sound as a reminder. If the driver has actually left the vehicle without starting e-payment via Yadilys, the system can even send the reminder via an SMS message to his or her cell phone. Yadilys is so flexible that the driver can activate e-payment remotely by responding to the message, without having to go back to the vehicle.
When ready to leave a parking spot, the driver deactivates Yadilys by entering a code, thereby only paying for the real time parked.
What’s happening on the network?
When activated, Yadilys queries the nearest repeater to obtain the hourly parking rate and to inform the municipality’s server that the car, with license plate 1234 ABC, for example, is parked in specific area and that the car is paying its parking fees. Localization is accurate with a few dozen meters, providing an accurate view of the current load on parking spaces.
Walk-by parking control staff use their own wireless readers to confirm that the car is paying its fees appropriately.
When the Yadilys is turned off, the amount due is debited from whichever payment solution is being used, either a smart-card or electronic wallet. The payment server then credits the municipality or parking operator for the exact amount due.

Yadilys offers flexible way to manage parking policy. For example, if parking is authorized for a limited time period, a municipality could decide to give Yadilys users 15 minutes (or more) of free parking, thus encouraging people to respect payment rules.
This kind of solution helps smooth out parking and circulation problems in downtown areas, to the satisfaction of merchants and consumers alike. With support from the French Ministry of Transportation, Yadilys pilot sites are under development for several French cities, in order to:
-
Evaluate the positive effects of reduced traffic tickets on city-citizen relationships.
-
Finally be able to measure the correlation of on-street and in-garage parking in order to make informed policy and planning decisions.
-
Give municipalities ways to promote new forms of mobility, by offering price incentives for people who share vehicles or use vehicles with lower pollution emission.
Not only that, but Yadilys lets drivers secure their vehicles: if car moves without someone entering the proper PIN code, an alarm can be sent immediately to a mobile phone or security service. |

Yadilys also makes parking enforcement officers’ jobs easier. Equipped with a portable WaveScan™ wireless terminal, they can immediately detect whether or not Yadilys has been activated in cars, without having to stop and look at each one. Officers can check 4 times as many cars with Yadilys as they can with traditional parking meters or ticket machines.
When using terminals that can print parking citations on the spot (where authorized), officers can check cars in under 10 seconds, including the time it takes to issue the citation! WaveScan terminals are also in continuous contact with municipality servers, and regularly relay parking information such as how many vehicles are paying their parking fees and how many are being issued parking tickets. |
